Hello! I am Glenn Hamers. I am a software developer at One Fox and an MSc graduate at Utrecht University of the Computing Science programme.
In 2021 I achieved my BSc Computer Science at Utrecht University. This is where I discovered my passion for back-end tasks such as security, algorithm design and routing. In 2024 I achieved my MSc Computing Science. I created my thesis in collaboration with Qbuzz b.v.. In this thesis I researched if charging using the DAM would lead to a (real-world) cost difference. (Thesis URL). During this study I performed the tracks "Algorithm Design and Analysis" and "Operations Research".

Software developer at One Fox
May 2023 - Apr 2024
I performed my master's thesis in collaboration with Qbuzz b.v.. The thesis is called "Optimal Charging of Electric Buses in an Existing Schedule Utilizing the Day-Ahead Electricity Market" and can be found using the following URL: URL. In short I researched if there is a cost difference between using the DAM for charge scheduling and when not doing so. A theoretical savings between 28.8% to 31.4% was found, with an expected real-world savings between 22.0% and 23.9%.
Nov 2021 - Jan 2022
During my off-time between my bachelor and master education I decided to get to work. Unfortunately IT jobs generally require a longer working contract, so I decided to work at my local supermarket. My primary job was the "Aardappel, Groente en Fruit" department and the "Kruidenierswaren" department. Besides these activities I assisted wherever someone was needed, for example being a cashier when too many customers were waiting in line.

The bachelor thesis consisted of creating a website with data processing capabilities, where ProRail can upload, process, and review their data regarding internal setup tests. This bachelor thesis was made together with nine other programmers and two artists. Extra track: Game Technology.
2012 - 2018
Bernardinuscollege
During my time at Bernardinuscollege I learned that I had a passion for creating things. After doing some woodworking, I gave programming a try and never turned back. During the informatics course I created, among other things, a mobile 2D platformer and a 3D base defense game.
I love music. When I was little I used to play the drums. Unfortunately, a drum set is not ideal when living in a flat so I resort to listening to music instead of creating it myself. My go to genre is some low speed hiphop, amongst other things. I started creating a spotify list with these slow soothing melodies in my second year at the university and have not stopped just yet. The first 100 songs of this 1000+ song playlist are displayed using the spotify embedding. Feel free to take a listen!
I enjoy performing some small home improvement projects. Besides this I am learning Spanish. I chose to learn this language as I value the worth of knowing a second world language. Other notable hobbies are sneakers, plants, electronics, and gadgets.
